Audit trails, records retention and document execution built so you can prove what happened — designed from the obligation backwards, not bolted on afterwards.
An audit trail that only your own system can vouch for is not evidence. It is an assertion. The difference becomes expensive at exactly the moment it matters — in a dispute, an examination, or a regulatory request, where the question is not what your system says happened but what can be shown to have happened.
We design and build records systems where integrity is a property of the structure. Hash-chained event logs where each entry commits to the one before it. Sequence assignment under lock, so the chain cannot fork under concurrent writes. Verification available to any party holding the record, not only to the operator. Retention, disposition and legal hold implemented as enforced states rather than conventions.
Data-subject erasure and tamper-evident history look like they are in conflict, and are frequently built as though one has to be sacrificed. They coexist cleanly if personal data is held encrypted and outside the hashed payload from the start: an erasure request destroys the key, rendering the data unrecoverable, while every hash in every chain still verifies.
The constraint is that it has to be designed in. Retrofitting means rewriting every historical event to remove data the chain already commits to, which is not a migration — it is a rebuild.
We build capability and we describe it precisely. Whether a specific obligation applies to your transactions is a determination for your counsel, and we produce a written limitations document stating what a system does and does not establish — as a deliverable, not a disclaimer buried in a footer.
We would rather be the vendor who told you where the boundary was than the one you discover it from.
